This past Thursday we celebrated Ascension Day - the 40th day after Jesus miraculously rose from the dead and was taken up into heaven.

Today, Ascension Sunday, honours this and anticipates the day of Pentecost (celebrated next Sunday!), where the promised Holy Spirit is poured out upon the disciples.

I just love this verse (in the artwork above) where it speaks of Jesus raising his hands and blessing his disciples before leaving them. It speaks to Jesus’ role as great High Priest and every week when a priest leaves us with a blessing, we are given that same blessing from Christ.

While priests have a unique role in leading us to Jesus through the liturgy and the administration of the sacraments, we are also all members of a common priesthood. We are each called to represent Christ in our “domestic churches”—in our homes and in our actions. Every part of our life should point back to Jesus and the work he gave us to do—to love and serve him as faithful witnesses and to share the joy of Christ’s death, resurrection and ascension.

Happy Ascension Sunday!

Reflection:

How will Christ be evident in my thoughts, words and actions today? How can I be a blessing to others?

NOTE: I finally finished compiling all the Lent art and devotionals into a single pdf format, as some of you requested! If you are interested in receiving a copy for your own personal use, please reply to this email and I will happily send it to you!

Lovely. This passage also inspires liturgical possessions and blessings in this season!
