Zechariah's prophecy of the coming salvation in Luke 1:68-79 is a prophecy of joyful expectation.

John has just been born but instead of praising the birth of his son, Zechariah focuses on the one John will prepare the way for, Jesus.

This prophecy, guided by the Holy Spirit, brings good news about the ultimate source of our joy to a people who have lived in darkness for so long.

Reflection Question:

How do we express the joy of the gospel in our life today? What to we do with the gift of salvation that brings us out of darkness?
