The Holy Spirit and the Prophets
We proclaim the truth of the Nicene Creed, saying “we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life…who has spoken through the prophets” and we acknowledge that He was actively moving the story of salvation along.
Nehemiah 9:30 tells us:
“Many years you bore with them and warned them by your Spirit through your prophets. Yet they would not give ear. Therefore you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.”
Awareness of the Holy Spirit
As we come into renewed awareness of the Holy Spirit’s ongoing activities in the Bible, in the church and in our lives, we can thank God for the profound gift this is to us.
Not only has God given himself to us through his son Jesus, but he has also come to dwell in us, giving us a new spirit and transforming our hearts and our lives. I can hardly stop myself from saying a little “hallelujah!” at that, even though it is Lent.
Preparing Our Hearts
Let us ask for an undivided heart and to become aware of the Holy Spirit’s guidance in our lives today.
