The Angels and Our Salvation
We’ve seen that the prophets spoke of the coming Messiah, but do we realize that the angels also longed for this? Christ’s coming fulfills the longing the angels have for the completion of our salvation. They are purely longing for this on our behalf.
“It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.”1
The Role of Angels
We know that the angels have various roles in God’s plan—they are guardians2, messengers3, and worshippers4—to name a few. They follow God’s instruction and play an active role, so it makes sense why they would long for its completion through Christ.
One day, we will join the angels in worship saying, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”5
Preparing Our Hearts
The next time we think of the angels, we can be reminded of the beautiful role God gave them throughout Scripture and how they continue to care for humanity.
